Desert Dwellers

Desert living and endless adventures in America's Southwest

Our Story

Desert Dwellers is the story of two people who fled the East Coast, followed the sun, and found each other at a drum circle in Tucson, Arizona — where the sun shines 85% of the time.

From wildflower season and spring cactus bloom, to monsoon summers and mild winters, we feel grateful to be living large in the desert — wowed by panoramic desert and mountain views, stunning sunsets, and Saguaro silhouettes at golden hour.

Inspired by nature, we find delight in daily wildlife encounters — where the parade across our graveled lawn and landscaped patios feature roadrunners, javelina, bobcats, coyote, rabbits, quail, and lizards, among other desert critters.

For the hummingbirds, cardinals, tanagers, and numerous other avian species who frequent our property, we maintain a bird spa with a built-in waterfall, a ramada feeding station, and a love-dove shack, where dozens of mourning doves have raised their clutches over the years.

Surrounded by desert, mountains, wildlife — and the world's largest concentration of Saguaro cactus here in the Old Pueblo — we feel happiness flow like a wash during monsoon season.

Now happily retired as life partners rooted in the Sonoran Desert, we delight in our dream home renovations, wildlife encounters, and frequent explorations of the American Southwest — where we’ve trekked to more sites in our decade together than most folks experience in a lifetime.
